Hi, I’m Rick Saunders with Fundelicious Creations. Today, I am going to give you 5 other Hawaii Fundraising Tips.#1: Product Sales Product Sales are when you sell a product to raise money. There are many companies that use fundraising as a channel to drive sales. So, in exchange for selling their product, they usually give you a kickback that ranges between 20-50% for and it goes back to your fundraising group. Products you can sell include things like: cookie dough, chocolate bars, coupon books, candles, gift wrap, boxed meats, magazines and many many, more. Here are the pros: Tangibility: People actually like getting something in return for supporting you. So it’s not like you’re asking for a handout. And if you sell one item, it’s easier to organize the team to sell more. And now the Cons: It’s old school! Ordering, shipments, and paper forms. Many products require you to do paper-based processing and, even worse, they ship to you and YOU make you distribute the items. There are also upfront costs and order quotas. #2 Event Based Fundraising Events can be a great way to raise some money but they require a lot of work and a large team of volunteers.Examples of popular event fundraisers include: Fun Fairs - rides, games, music for kids these are very popular with schools. Bake Sales Galas & Dinners Here are the Pros: Events like fun fairs, bake sales and silent auctions bring people together and allow you to socialize. You can raise a significant amount of money as well. So the cons are: It's a huge amount of effort. The Cost per dollar raised may way be too high. Managing so many volunteers can really arduous. #3: Direct Donations: Sometimes it’s easier to cut a check or to ask others to do that for you. If you’re a registered non profit, your donors can also get a tax benefit. So, here are the pros: You’re getting right to the point. No need to beat around the bush - you need to raise money and you’re asking your friends and family to pitch in what they can. The Cons: You have to convince people that they should give their hard-earned money to your cause and they will only have so much to give. And if you’re not a cause affiliated with a debilitating disease or pressing issue, you might find it hard to get support. #4: Online Fundraising: There are tons of online fundraising options. There are some that allow you to order products directly on the web or solicit donations from your social networks. Online fundraising is extremely popular with events like Run for the Cure, Relay for Life and Movember. What are some of the pros of online fundraising? You can reach a lot of people outside of your immediate local network. It’s easy for people to give to you. There’s no online forms or shipping of any products. Here are some of the cons to online fundraising: Not everyone is comfortable giving online and you lose a bit of the pressure that you get with an in-person ask. People tend to like on Facebook and comment, instead of actually taking action. #5 SCRIP: Scrip is a fundraising program that where you buy and sell gift cards, with a percentage back to your fundraiser So, the pros of SCRIP: People can buy gift cards for stores they frequent and they're not spending extra money. You’re getting things you actually need while supporting a cause. SCRIP also has a wide selection of retailers to choose from. The Cons of SCRIP SCRIP payouts are very low, typically between 1 to 5%. So you have to buy and sell a ton to raise enough money. In fact, your fundraising may even take a full year. #6 Shop & Earn/Loyalty: Some fundraisers, like BoxTops for Education and CokeRewards, -- allow you to collect labels, cereal box tops and UPC codes to raise money. That you can then redeem for money for your cause. So what are the pros? You don’t have to push anyone to fundraise. They join a program and simply shop as they normally would to contribute to your fundraiser. So the cons: Payouts are extremely low. And many times, people forget to buy a particular product or use their card. Did you know you need 10,000 Box Tops to raise $1000 for your school? So, there are the methods.
